Support Charmain Timmons

Why should Charmain Timmons and her children be deported from NZ because of crimes against her? Take action and sign the petition today.

Charmain and her two small children will be deported from New Zealand any day now unless you help. After earning Permanent Residency Charmain is being kicked out of NZ because her husband abused her.

Show your support for Charmain

Charmain Timmons, a trainee social worker, moved to New Zealand in 2007 and was awarded Permanent Residency in principle in 2009. All she needed was the stamp in her passport.

The children, little kiwis now aged 7 and 9, have lived in New Zealand as home for as long as they can remember and are thriving. But any day now Charmain and her children will be deported.

Why? Because Charmain was brave enough to leave her abusive husband who has since been convicted and served time in jail for his crimes against her.

Charmain's Residency application was cancelled because of her ex-husband's crimes and she has battled alone to fight the system pushing her out of the country. That system has failed her and now , despite support from Kapiti Coast District Mayor Jenny Rowan, MP Nathan Guy and the CEO of the Women's Refuge she is days away from deportation.

Having used all of their funds fighting to stay the NZ government is threatening to forcibly deport what remains of this family, a process which will have a terrible effect on the children. Charmain's son, doing well in NZ despite severe dyslexia will have to leave his dog, the centre of his world, behind in New Zealand with all of the family's posessions.

Meanwhile Charmain's ex-husband is allowed to stay despite a protection order he has breached 19 times.

Charmain's last chance is an appeal to Associate Immigration Minister Kate Wilkinson.

Please help us encourage the Associate Immigration Minister to review this case, give a compassionate and intelligent ruling and give Charmain back the Residency she has already earned. Anything less is putting off an inevitable deportation.

Please do not deport Charmain Timmons and her children!
"Please give Charmain Timmons and her children Permanent Residency.

It would be a travesty to deport two young children because of their father's abuse, or to deport a wife because her husband beat her. Such a move would send a very poor message to the world about New Zealand's stance on child rights and domestic violence.

Charmain Timmons has much to offer New Zealand and would already have Permanent Residency in New Zealand but for the crimes her ex-husband committed against her, offering this family anything less than Permanent Residence would be completely unfair.

I urge the Associate Immigration Minister to allow this brave family to stay permanently in New Zealand, their home."
