Request for Funding Declined
23rd June 2008
For the past three years move2nz has been working to help newcomers, supporting
them through the migration to ensure they have the best chance of settling and
integrating happily.
We have had brilliant results because we have an excellent understanding of what
you need to know and the reasons for migration failure.
Since move2nz started Tammy and I have generated funding to run move2nz from our
own pockets with assistance from some great Kiwi businesses who sponsor the
site.
After hearing from every quarter that we
should be funded by government we formally asked the Immigration Minister,
Clayton Cosgrove, for a small amount of funding.
Mr. Cosgrove said no.
The reason? That we duplicate current services and there is none of the $11.7
million put into current services (from a pot of $62 million) left.
We disagree that we duplicate current services - there is no one to my knowledge
doing what we do anywhere in the country - so we have generated details of our
workload, the type of work we do and why we do it to show Mr. Cosgrove.
We have also started a petition to gather support: we feel we're doing a good
job and deserve acknowledgement and support from central government.
If you agree please click here and sign our online petition.
