Step 3. Expression of Interest (EOI)

If you are interested in moving to New Zealand as a skilled migrant, and if you have the skills New Zealand needs, then completing the Expression of Interest form is your first step.

When you submit the Expression of Interest, you may be considered for an Invitation to Apply for residence in New Zealand only if you meet the New Zealand Immigration requirements.

On the Expression of Interest, you will claim points for certain factors, including your qualifications, whether you have a job, or an offer of employment, and previous work experience.

Before you submit an Expression of Interest, you first need to assess yourself to see if you can apply under this category. Also, be sure that you meet New Zealand health, character, and English requirements.

Completing the Expression of Interest Form

In the Expression of Interest Form, you tell Immigration New Zealand about your health, character, age and English language ability, as well as the factors that will earn you points. When the form is completed, submit it to Immigration New Zealand where it will be checked to ensure that all relevant information has been supplied.

You have the option of completing and submitting an Expression of Interest form either online at www.immigration.govt.nz or on a hard copy form, which you can download from the Web site. The online form is easier to complete and is also less expensive than submitting a paper form.

You need at least 100 points to submit an Expression of Interest.
