Step 6. Applying for Residence
When you are invited to apply for New Zealand Residence, you will receive an application form, which contains the information you provided in your Expression of Interest. The Invitation to Apply will also specify a time frame within which you may apply for residence in New Zealand.
To apply you will need to send Immigration New Zealand (INZ) a signed application form, applicable fees and all the necessary documentation to support the claims you made in your Expression of Interest, such as passports, qualifications and relevant certificates.
Your partner and dependent children can be included in your application for residence.
The application for residence form is short because it already contains the information that you provided in your Expression of Interest. You will need to check this form carefully, sign it, and send it back to Immigration New Zealand. You will have to attach passport photographs and any other documents INZ have requested.
You need to provide Immigration New Zealand with evidence of your job or employment offer, work experience, qualifications, and any other factors for which you claimed points in you Expression of Interest. You will also need to provide a proof that you and everyone else on your application meet New Zealand health, character, and English language requirements.
For every person on the application, you will need to provide:
- two recent passport-size photos
- a valid passport or certificate of identity
- a completed medical and x-ray certificate
- a police certificate, and
- a full birth certificate.
Post your Application
Send the required fee and your application to the office address shown on your invitation to apply letter.
Your application will then be assessed by New Zealand Immigration Officers. Read about the process of an application assessment.
