Very early on in the creation of move2nz we realised that we could volunteer our time at evenings and weekends, or we could do it properly. Nothing short of putting 100% of our effort into helping migrants was enough.
Since then we have been completely dedicated to developing move2nz to provide the support and services needed by our members. Just as people's lives don't shut down after 5pm, neither does move2nz. We offer assistance 24/7/365. By ‘completely dedicated’ we really mean it: working 7 days a week and on average 12 hours a day has become a way of life with member events most weekends.
Tammy Bell - Managing Director
Tammy is the brains behind the whole move2nz concept. Following her own experiences of immigration, interacting with and assisting other prospective and new migrants she saw there was a great need for move2nz. Tammy keeps everything running smoothly and ensures deadlines are met. Networking is her middle name and meeting new people is something Tammy really enjoys. move2nz provides many opportunities in both business and personal situations to meet a wide variety of new contacts and friends.Since coming to New Zealand Tammy has taken up Tennis and Squash and is becoming highly proficient. Walking in the beautiful Port Hills is a also favorite pastime, as long as she is back in time to watch the rugby. Go Canterbury!
Tammy always manages find time to spend with her friends and family. Work hard but play even harder! That’s the only way to live.
Mike Bell - I.T. Manager
Mike is the geek who built this site. After ten years languishing in a boring office job he completed a Computer Systems Engineering qualification at night school to earn enough points to try for Residence in NZ. That was a turning point in his life. Leaving his job to start a Web Design business he spent a successful year teaching programming before getting the go-ahead to bring his family to New Zealand.Since coming to Christchurch in 2000 Mike has been working as an Internet Developer building dynamic web sites and Intranets in a variety of technologies - recently completing some contract work for Microsoft via a Christchurch company. Mike loves a challenge and switched to the latest technology in order to build this site to the best it could be. He has great plans to add some amazing tools to the site in the coming months.
In his spare time Mike can often be found cycling out on the beautiful Port Hills which loom to the East of Christchurch.
Monika - Relationship Manager/Project Co-ordinator
Monika is another person with Czech roots on the team. She came to NZ for the first time in April 2007 and her first steps went to move2nz office. A former recruitment consultant and HR manager, she has always been interested in people and different cultures.Monika's task corresponds perfectly with her personal mission in helping people to be: professionally successful; to find a job they really enjoy; and one where they can fully use their potential. And which one they could really enjoy. Her book “Career Coaching” was published in 2007 (sorry in Czech only!)
Being a mum of a teenager, Monika appreciates the New Zealand environment which is so suitable for kids of all ages. She enjoys mountain biking, walking on the beaches, reading and listening to people's stories. She finds the kiwi accent is so cute!
As a big fan of Lord of the Rings movies she (together with her son of course!) hopes to witness the “Hobbit” shooting here in the Middle-earth soon.
Radek - Systems Analyst
Radek joined move2nz in May 2007. Mike and Tammy have been working without help since the start of the year and there has been far too much to do. They decided to hire someone to assist Mike with the technical side of things so Mike can focus more on programming and get things moving on the many tools and resources they want to add to the site.Originally from the Czech Republic and after spending over 10 years in California, Radek decided it was time for a change and moved to Christchurch.
If you don't find him behind the computer screen, he is probably walking the deserted beaches around Christchurch or hiking in the Port Hills. Although, his favourite foods are ice cream and quality chocolate, he wears the calories off by biking around Christchurch and playing tennis or squash. |
